Marty became deeply involved in music in high school, where he cut his musical teeth in the hotbed of late 60's West Coast Jazz, gigging on sax, clarinet, and oboe, and composing and arranging for area big bands and small groups in the Portland Oregon area. Marty has played in a wide variety of musical settings, including big band & combo jazz, fusion, funk, blues, and of course the Deacons of Dixieland who he can say from his heart are some of the nicest guys he's ever met!
