Jay is known as "Mr. Smooth" to the other band members due to his polished technique and tasteful style. A veteran musician from a family of abundant musical talent, his early stints with bands such as the Dukes, the Consord Sounds, and the Preludes have provided an excellent background for Dixieland. Jay lives in the high mountains above Lock Haven, PA, and has been a barber in town for all his adult life, prompting his other local nickname, the "Barber Of Civility."
