Bill, a retired insurance agent living in Houtzdale,
began playing drums while in high school and studied
under E.A. (Rocky) Rockwell in Clearfield, and under
Loy Appleman in Altoona. After joining the Deacons in
1999,he accompanied them on their second trip to New
Orleans in 2001 where they were the opening band at
Preservation Hall. He has also performed with the
Deacons at several W.C. Handy Music Festivals in
Alabama. In addition to the Deacons, he plays in the
Clearfield Community Band and the 14th Street Jazz Band.
As the only fully retired member, Bill has been appointed
